  Mac Release Update

Unfortunately, an error was found last night that has caused a minor delay in the release of v4 for the Mac. We apologize to those loyal followers of the blog that have been frequenting our site today, as well as those of you who have preordered v4 for the Mac and are itching to get it into your hands.

We're doing our best and we truly appreciate your patience while we iron out this final issue. The program will be released as soon as this item has been resolved and tested. Thanks!

Comments:

As anxious as I am to get my hands on v4, I'm glad you guys are being so meticulous. v3 is a great program, but there are several key glitches or oversights in it that all but cripple it's effectiveness...I'm hoping that v4 will be more attentive to such details.

It's a common mistake, but you really should be aware of the fact that it 'Mac" not "MAC". The Apple product isn't an acronym. And MAC actually means something different as an ethernet hardware address.

Swift 3D looks fantastic, btw.

Thank you for taking the time to point out my improper use of Mac. I have some updates to make.

Sorry folks. Unfortunately, we couldn't quite pull off the release this week. Again, thanks for your patience and have a great weekend.

Dave, thanks for the update. All us mac people are really ready for v4. I don't want to be rude. But Scott, what did the whole MAC, Mac thing really have to do with this. I'm sure I miss spelled, missgram, misslets just keep this within what we are all wanting. Thanks:)

I also hope that v4 addresses some of the performance issues between the PC and Mac versions. I know that it is lunacy to hope for the same performance megahertz for megahertz, but in testing my 1.6 GHz G5 finished rendering the same scene 7 minutes behind my 2 year old Athlon XP 1.6 GHz with less RAM. The total render on the PC was 21 Minute. Is the G5 really 33% slower than an old Athlon, without SSE2, Megahertz for Megahertz?

That was with v.3 on both platforms.
