They said I got to have the honor of posting Erain's first entry to the blog - something about being semi-literate in the English language or something - and so I did (please validate my existance by reading that one first). So now let's get some juicy V4 feature gossip going, shall we.
(FYI, I will likely get scolded about this post in the morning, but that's what they get for letting me work remotely from Vermont.)
So today I was working on a tutorial for V4... and I was in this new area of the Swift 3D interface called the "Advanced Modeler"... and it was pretty much completely insane what the engineers have done! It's like our little Swift 3D, but all grown up. I openly admit that I'm not a 3D artist, (aint no Mark Rush futurecycles getting modeled on my machine), but that doesn't stop me from recognizing some serious horsepower.
I've been off of the Swift 3D project for quite some time now - working on some other "stuff" - but now that I'm back helping gear up for the launch, I really have to respect where this application is about to go. I'll save the specifics for later, but for anyone who has an inkling to move beyond Swift 3D's current lego-style modeling, your inkling is soon to be satiated.
OK, that's a big ole' cat head poking out of the bag, and no one can make me stuff it back in. As soon as we work out some of those hairballs (read: bugs) we can fill in more of the details that I was privy to today - that is if I don't have my blog admin privileges revoked.

Another note to self: Ok, little better on the length, but where are the LINKS. Blogs are about connections, not lectures. You got a lot to learn my little friend.
I'm still amazed at how v3 has just been released and yet v4 is right around the corner.. who said you guys/gals are slow.. :o) lots of sarchasm with this post!
This is BS we have known about "advanced modelling" for a few weeks, and you are fictionalizing it like you are "letting the cat out of the bag" and you may get "scolded". Come on, we are smarter than that. I don't care if they have to pospone the release again, just get it working well. But, don't insult our intellegence in the process.
i dont think this is "BS". this news has not been readily available to the browsing web public - correct me if i'm wrong on that. yeah some of us may have been privy to inside info - but not everybody has this knowledge. I just cant see how erain's attempt at informing the general public as of the status of the next version is an insult to anybody's intelligence. in all my years of being on beta's for various software programs, never has any 1 company published a blog about the status of the development process. anyway - that's my HO - i'm simply looking forward to V4 - blog or no blog - thanks erain.
Both Bill and Chris are right. I don't think it's "BS" but it has been available to the general web browseing public for about a month or two (via the message boards), so it's not a 'big huge leak.'
Though I would like to say that, though much of this so far is fluff, I'm sure that it will start to get jucy very soon! It's nice to see the blogs though. If nothing else it provides a nice distration from the real world daily life...
It's dave here. I do want to say that it surely does not surprise me that the Blog is 3 days behind. They proposed that there will be updates daily. Umhmmm. Don't get me wrong, I am eagerly awaiting this new version, even some juicey tid bits. Which is probably the explanation to my impatience. Let me quit with the fluff and leave that for erain.
i stand corrected then. thanks rick.
maybe i'm just to easy-going - but i'd rather see V4 take longer and be more stab;e and bug-free then rush it out to the public and, well...see what happened to Flash MX 2004?
i stand corrected then, thanks rick.
maybe i'm easy-going but i'd rather see V4 take longer with less bugs and better stability than to get rushed to the market and, well...we all know what happened with Flash MX 2004 right?
