SmartLayer™ Technology is a process of rendering 3D scenes from Swift 3D in such a way that facilitates a more integrated and seamless method of incorporating 3D animations into Macromedia® Flash™. The term SmartLayer refers to the core functionality of the technology which is the ability of the RAViX III rendering engine to create individual layers within in a single file that contain various aspects of the original 3D scene. By separating these elements of a 3D scene into layers, designers working in Flash gain a significant advantage in creativity when bringing their 3D animations rendered with SmartLayer technology into Flash. Additionally, SmartLayer technology provides an end result where the 3D elements contained within a Flash movie are reduced to their smallest and most efficient file size.

Setup your scene
Once you have a scene and/or object that you are ready to export you will need to click on the "Preview and Export Editor" tab. From there we will configure our rendering options and then generate the 3D scene for exporting to the .SWFT file format.

Rendering Configuration
In the "Preview and Export Editor" you will need to select Vector as your output format.

The Target File Type should already be set to Swift 3D Flash Importer (SWFT). If it isn't, you'll need to select the (SWFT) export option.

Also note: You have the option of seperating stationary and moving objects. If this option is selected, your 3D objects will be placed on seperate layers within Flash. If it isn't checked your moving and stationary objects will be combined to a single layer.

Generate and Export your animation
Once the Output Options have been configured you can generate and preview your 3D animation. If you're satifsfied with the results of your animation you can export the .SWFT to your computer.

Import your .SWFT File into Flash
From within Flash, select File | Import | Import to Stage, or select the Import to Library option. If you select Import to Stage your layered animation will be placed on the _root level timeline. If you select the Import to Library option your animation will be placed in the library and will also be automatically converted to either a movieClip or a Graphic.

Mission Accomplished
If you view your imported 3D scene you'll notice that your objects, animations and effects were placed on their own seperate layers. From this point you can modify your animation within the Flash enviroment or apply actionscript to your animations to make them interactive. Publish our Flash movie and you'll see the final results.
